The Horse Twin Power
Hi, my name is Whitney and I live on a rescue farm with my dad, Mark. I am 9 years old and my dad started the farm when I was 5 because I love animals and want to help them. At the rescue we help every animal you can think of.
One cold night I could see every star in the sky. I got a call from my trainer, the best trainer in the world, her name is Ellie. She got a call from someone she's never met. Ellie said,‘There are two young horses trapped in a small patch of grass, and they were very injured.” I jumped out of bed and sprinted to dad. He was putting Harry the goat to his stall when I ran to him and said,“drive me to Ashworth Main and hurry!”
We got in the trailer and it took about 1 hour to get there. We were surprised to see the horses lying on the ground. Dad said, ¨you take that one, I'll get this one. go get them in the trailer. On the way home I called Ellie and said we got the horses.
In the morning we gave them check ups and realized they were Appaloosa's. An Appaloosa is a tips of horse that has little patches of colors. One had a broken leg and burn marks on the stomach. They went to the beach to practice their human skills, that is where the horse practices being around people while they do tricks, otherwise the horse could get freaked out and lunge at people. I named them Meg and Lucky. They were both 10 and were twins; they were practicing their trotting, walking, cantering, jumping, commands.
That night when I was going to bed I got a bad feeling. I woke up to Lucky naying, cantering and jumping at Amanda, our horse therapist. I ran outside, and I calmed her down and saw a big lump in her tummy. So I walked her to the tack room/(horse examining hut.)Lucky had been abused, and it looked like she was hit and was swollen. That is why she wasn't herself this morning. I went to go see Meg she was still limping but it was getting better. That night I got a message from Ellie saying it was time for my 10 competition.
When I woke up I got my breakfast and went to the stables and checked on Lucky. Lucky was great, and her burns and lumps went away. So I went to go see Meg. She wasn’t limping, but she seems dehydrated. I went to go get her water when she collapsed. I was crying about Meg because I thought what if I can't ride her tomorrow? The only thing I could do is to pray to God and pick a different horse. I went with Lucky because they were related, and it would be like I was riding Meg.
At the competition the next day I walked through the door to the most important competition of my life. In the competition stables there were horses that were board and kicking the door when Ellie, me, and Lucky walked past. I met Layla. This is her 10th competition. Then I met Emma this is her 12th competition. The arena was an oval with the judges in the middle. They called group A, then group B, then it was my turn. I was in the arena. The judges said Walk then trot. They said in first place Whitney and Lucky.
When we got home Meg was standing and was fully hydrated and ready for our next competition. Ellie was so happy! My dad said I could keep both Lucky and Meg.
Then we got Magic, a mustang. You have to read book 2 to know about Magic and her friend Boomer.
Meg and Lucky and Me on an old hurt horse named Firefly.
